Vanderbilt Commodores: Music City Bowl Champions

Since the last time Vanderbilt went bowling was before I was born (1982), I can honestly say I never thought that I would be around to see Vandy win a bowl game, much less be in attendance when it happened.

After a promising 5-0 start this year, the Commodores dropped 6 of their last 7 regular season games, not giving the fans much confidence taking on the #24 ranked Boston College squad. Maybe it was the hometown crowd or perhaps the absence of mental errors that plagued Boston College, but somehow, the Dores pulled away with a 16-14 win.

It's no Rose Bowl victory, but for the private school that's been the joke of the SEC for decades, it's exciting. Like always, Bobby Johnson had quite the roulette of quarterbacks during the game (allowing three different QBs take snaps during the game); the most success was when redshirt freshman Larry Smith was in the game. This kid gives me hope for future seasons.

You know it's Vanderbilt football when the punter walks away with the Music City Bowl MVP title.

And I'd just like to throw in there that Tennessee wasn't bowl eligible this year. Go Dores.
